Open sourceWraft is AGPLv3 and self-hostable — read the source on GitHub

For startups

Start fast, and keep the exit open while you scale

The whole platform is open source, so the version you run while you are five people is the same one you run at five hundred. Nothing to migrate off, and no renegotiation at the moment you can least afford one.

Why it matters early

The decisions that are cheap now and expensive later

Document tooling looks like a small choice at seed stage. It stops looking small the first time an enterprise customer sends a security questionnaire.

Start on nothing

The full platform is AGPLv3. Clone it, run docker compose up, and you have document generation without a purchase order or a sales call. No trial clock and no feature gate.

The bill does not track your growth

Per-seat and per-document pricing punishes exactly the thing you are trying to do. Your cost here is the infrastructure you already run, whether you generate ten documents a month or ten thousand.

Your first enterprise deal will ask

Security review arrives sooner than founders expect. 'Where does our data live' has a much better answer when it is your own infrastructure, and 'can we read the code' has an answer at all.

What the programme includes

Help with the parts that are genuinely hard

The software is free; your time is not. This is where we can save you some of it.

Quick setup and onboarding

A working deployment and your first template in a session with us, rather than a fortnight of reading docs alone.

Team collaboration from day one

Shared clause libraries and approval flows, so document process exists before it becomes an emergency at your first audit.

Managed hosting credits

If you would rather not run infrastructure yet, we will host it. Credits for qualifying early-stage teams so the choice is about focus, not budget.

Migration help, both ways

We will help you move on. We will also help you move to self-hosted later — same codebase, same schema, so it is a migration rather than a rewrite.

Start fast, scale smart

What the first month usually looks like

Get up and running quickly with pre-built templates and workflows, then customise as the business grows.

  1. 01 Run it locally One command. Postgres, storage and Wraft, on your machine.
  2. 02 Port one document Pick the one you produce most often and make it a template.
  3. 03 Wire in your data From your CRM, a sheet, or the API — whatever you already have.
  4. 04 Decide on hosting Keep self-hosting, or move to managed. Either way the code is the same.

Applying

There is no form

Email hello@wraft.app with what you are building, roughly what stage you are at, and the documents you are producing by hand today. We will reply within 24 hours on working days, and we will tell you honestly if it is too early.

Before you apply

The questions worth asking us

What does the programme actually cost?
Self-hosting costs nothing and always will — that is the licence, not a promotion. The programme covers managed hosting credits and onboarding help for qualifying early-stage teams. Tell us your stage and we will tell you what applies.
What happens when we outgrow the credits?
You either start paying for managed hosting at normal rates, or you move to self-hosted and pay us nothing. Both are supported outcomes. The second one existing is what makes the first one an honest offer.
Is the free version crippled?
No. There is no community edition with features removed. The AGPLv3 core is the product — authoring, generation, approval flows, archive. We sell support, hosting and expertise, not access to functionality.
We are pre-product. Is this too early?
Probably, and we would rather say so. If you are not yet generating documents repeatedly, a word processor is fine. Come back when the same document is being produced weekly by hand — that is the moment this pays off.
Do you take equity or ask for a case study?
No equity. A case study is welcome if you are happy with the product, and entirely optional — it is not a condition of anything.

Free while you are small

And still yours when you are not
